The Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM is an ultra-wide angle lens designed specifically for APS-C DSLRs. FLD glass elements (with performance equal to fluorite) help compensate for color aberration while a hybrid aspherical lens and two glass mold elements provide excellent correction of distortion and astigmatism. Sigma is the largest independent lens manufacturer of the world (family owned, BTW) yet they're not present in all lens segments. However, they've a couple of sweet spots and ultra-wide angle lenses is one of them with no less than 4 zoom lenses. Their latest addition (as of the time of this review) is the Sigma AF 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM. The Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM allows you to really capture practically everything around you, with a massive 121-degree viewing angle that really has to be seen to be believed. The best part is that it’s a well-made lens in all other respects, too, with a durable construction (though weather-sealing might have been nice) and great optical quality. I don't care for this type of look, but oh well. Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM: Verdict Having such a wide field of view, coupled with the close minimum focus distance of only 24cm, makes this lens a lot of fun to use. „sehr gut“ (81,9 von 100 Punkten) 4 von 5 Sternen.

De Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM is een fantastisch speeltje voor de creatieve fotograaf, en tegelijkertijd een nuttig gereedschap voor wie zich bezighoudt met interieur- of architectuurfotografie. Met een adviesprijs van circa 800 Euro is de lens niet echt goedkoop. maar toch redelijk geprijsd.
